Match Report

A very cold and raw day at Ickleford saw visitors Enfield go home empty handed in a very close fought match as Hitchin showed their mettle to defeat a very determined Enfield side. Games between these sides are always closely matched as both teams have similar strengths and it was good to see the match played in the spirit of the game by both sides.

After the trauma of the Cambridge defeat a morale boosting result was needed and it was delivered courtesy of Sianís very sharp finishing and a much better footballing performance from the whole team. Natalie claims that the deep heat spray at half time made all the difference as her team mates did not have to look to see where she was they could just smell her!

This win puts Hitchin 4th in the league and takes their record to 6 wins in 7 played. This is a real credit to all of the team and they are starting to look sharper against the better sides.

Next week sees Tottenham Hotspur A travel to Ickleford and the return of Sammy from sunny India. Hitchin are riding high on the back of some good wins and Tottenham are below them in the table could this be the time for Hitchin to claim a really big scalp? The opportunity is there and the team have the talent. Attitude as always will be important and they should not fear any team. The bounce back this week was really good to see and the confidence in all of the players should be better after this match.

Girls of the match

Monica was a giant in defence and really made the hits when it counted with a superb clearance in a moment of real danger.

Louise created the chances for Sian and was full of running again and worked very hard.

Steph put in a great midfield performance and won the vital second ball every time a real battling approach, which made the difference.

Sian 2 very well taken goals and the second was one to savour with a very neat touch past the goalie.

Keeley played very well on the left and made several really good passes to put the pressure on the Enfield defence.
