Bedwell Festival

With no league games again this week, the under 10s took part in the Bedwell Festival in Stevenage. Due to other commitments and injuries we only had the minimum 7 players.

V Bury Rangers

First up were Bury Rangers, and it was only 2 minutes before the Belles scored the first goal. The Belles were awarded a free kick about 15 yards out and Sadie made no mistake, blasting the ball straight in to the back of the net. Bury pressed forward and soon had an equaliser but they were only level for a couple of minutes as Sadie hit hers and Hitchins second as she slid in to blast the ball home, again from distance.

V Watford

The second game was against old rivals Watford and again the Belles were soon on the attack. This time the Belles were ahead after 3 minutes, Sadie again with another rasping left foot shot that had the keeper beaten. Emily then put Hitchin 2 up, 3minutes later with a lovely run through the Watford defence before coolly slotting home. Jess was comfortable in the Hitchin goal, not having a serious save to make as Sasa and Ciara in defence, kept Watford at bay.

V Borehamwood

The last scheduled game was a much tougher affair, with Borehamwood on the attack straight from the kick off. Jess and Sasa had a much more difficult first few minutes but they weathered the storm with help from Ursula and Ciara and kept Vicky ,in goal ,protected. It was against the run of play that Hitchin took the lead as Emily latched on to a long pass from Sasa and scored her second goal of the festival.Borehamwoods equaliser came from a poor goal kick which went straight to an opposition player who made no mistake from 5 yards out.Vicky then made a great save to prevent Borehamwood grabbing a winner whilst at the other end Sadie hit the bar and Emily hit the post. All in all a fair result.

V St. Albans

The only blemish on the U10s morning was a 3-0 reverse against St Albans which was an extra game to use up some time.Sadie by this time was carrying an injury so they were effectively down to six players and although they battled hard St Albans made the extra player count.
