New 3G Pitch ready for Action

3g

We are extremely proud and delighted to announce that our new 3G all-weather pitch has now opened!

Thanks to our partnership with The Priory School (TPS), and through grants secured via the Football Foundation and Hertfordshire FA, our players will be able to use and enjoy an elite level training pitch all year round.

This venue has taken almost 2 years to build, with some unavoidable delays due to the pandemic, but is now set to become a hub for the whole club to train and play matches.

Our Club Secretary, Jason Slade, said “I truly believe that this is a watershed moment in the history of the club and will be the cornerstone, as Hertfordshire’s largest all-female football clubs, to provide first-class football facilities to female players in the area. The grants secured and partnership with the school, will allow us to offer all-female football to even more girls and women in the community and we will be working with the school to build our links with them and engage with staff and pupils to offer them opportunities in the sport. Female football is the fastest growing game in the UK and this new home ground at TPS will help the club to improve grassroots football in Hitchin and attract even more female players to come and participate in the nation’s favourite game“.

Coaches v Coaches Match for Refuge

We all know football coaches can talk a good game. But can they play one? Well, here’s your chance to find out! Female and male coaches from local club Hitchin Belles FC will be lacing up their boots and risking their hamstrings for a special charity football match kicking off at 3pm on Saturday 26th June at the County Ground, Letchworth Garden City SG6 2EN.

Spectators are very welcome (£1 on the door) and reasonably priced refreshments will also be available. All proceeds will go to Refuge, the club’s charity, and any further donations are very gratefully received.

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

All donations are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence, and are greatly appreciated.
